Review of Rodan (1956) by Jacob T — 17 Apr 2015
I love this movie. It's juvenile, but at the same time it takes the story seriously and there's even elements of horror. The acting is surprisingly subdued. Usually in these old movies the actors are very animated in an unrealistic way, probably to make kids happy who watch the movies.
In Rodan, it isn't great acting, but it isn't all played for laughs. It's a movie both kids and adults can enjoy. But the highlight, of course, is the monster. It looks like a giant toy and it makes the movie so much fun.
I honestly think it's cool, not just silly. I can't help but think of how excited I'd get if when I was a kid my toys came to life. Rodan is a movie made for the kid in all of us.
