Review of Rocco and His Brothers (1960) by Jochen W — 02 Sep 2008
A masterpiece! there is so much pain in these three hours, it almost physically hurts. visconti combines his trademark operatic style with neorealist storytelling blown up to epic proportions. the result is a kind of über-melodrama, with fierce power and overwhelming emotional brutality.
