Review of Robot Jox (1990) by Jason D — 24 Mar 2009
Robot Jox is the hilariously bad film by the usually awesome Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond) about a world where nations wage war by way of giant battling robots. The heroic champion Achilles faces off against German villain Alexander for one last battle to determine who controls Alaska (for oil) but after they accidentally give a large number of people (one of them played by Jeffrey Combs).
Achilles leaves the world of Robot Jox but goes back in order to settle the score with Alexander. There's a great story here and I'm sure this film would make an awesome remake (a rarity), however this version right here is somewhat of a stinker.
In fact, this stands as one of Stuart Gordon's worst films, an insanely rare feat. Good for a laugh at the acting and corny 80's effects with some friends.
