Now, this is a special one. Giant robot movie, whose excellent special effects are done with miniatures. This remains one of the only films that handles giant robots with any real grasp of scale and the laws of physics-- yeah, Transformers, I'm looking at you.

Also one of the only movies in existence that acknowledges the lack of sound in space. Not to say that this is a realistic film, aw heck no-- this is pure 80s, pure camp. So much fun!
