Review of RoboCop 2 (1990) by Andrew L — 29 Jun 2018
Everyone's favorite cybernetic police officer from Detroit is back in "Robocop 2". What should have been a great sequel turned into a mediocre mess. The whole film screenplay has plot problems and in the end no one really wins.
A good sign the movie is going to be bad is when a kid is one of the villains, sure he's a foul mouthed drug dealer but the entire you just want him to die. The villain must be defeated by the end of the film but you at least want to have a good time while watching them and it doesn't come across with this one.
The other villain is just simple kingpin, no real flair to him. Robocop himself has a lot of good scenes but he's not in the film as much as he should be, I mean he is the title character and for, what feels like a half hour, he's not there.
Some of the special effects are ok but many of them haven't held up really well but the action scenes are plentiful and a lot fun. Overall "Robocop 2" could've been better but it also could've been a lot worse.
