Review of Robin Hood (2009) by Mark F — 12 Aug 2010
When this first came out I remember a big fuss being made of it but if it was ever any good it hasn't aged well. The whole look is quite plastic and fake at times. Costner doesn't even attempt an English accent and Alan Rickman is a little too OTT.
There's also a general lack of realism. For example, you don't have to show someone's head getting whacked with an axe but if you show it, you have to be real about the consequences of that.
Typical of Costner around this time it's also overly long. Overall it's not awful but could have been so much better.
