Review of Road to Perdition (2002) by Ruhan R — 31 Dec 2010

I was expecting a gangster movie when I began this film, but I was not let down when I discovered otherwise. Sam Mendes pulled off a nice piece of work with Road to Perdition. Tom Hanks was as professional as ever, flawlessy fitting into his role and immersing himself in all of Mike Sullivan's mannerisms.

Tyler Hoechlin did a great job as the frightened Sullivan Jr., his chemistry with Hanks was pretty good. The plot was fairly simple but still powerful, Mendes' directorial skill certainly shined through in many of the scenes.

The one shot where it showed Hoechlin alone in a room with Hanks entering it from the hallway really stood out to me. This film had a nice colour theme throughout, it was very well designed. All-in-all it was a good watch.
