Review of River's Edge (1986) by Christopher S — 29 Aug 2008
Gritty drama is an interesting look at a certain kind of "wrong side of the tracks" youth culture, with strong characters in a sometimes over-complicated plot. The performances were uneven, some of the young actors were very realistic, others awful - Keanu Reeves predictably can't handle the deeper emotions of his character, Crispin Glover's spaced-out performance is just weird, and Dennis Hopper provides a kind of watered-down Frank Booth that's still interesting.
Very effective score from Jürgen Knieper.
