Review of River's Edge (1986) by John S — 23 Aug 2011
I used to think this was a great film. But that was when I used to smoke alot of weed and have holes in my jeans. I don't have holes in my jeans anymore! But about the movie - It's still worth seeing - but its got some real problems in the acting department. Crispin Glover's performance (which I would once have called "bravura") now seems pretty silly. Nice to see Keanu's blankface routine working for him as the sensitive renegade stoner. Ione Skye - always a delight! Dennis Hopper's good too. Not the great film I thought it was, but still enjoyable. My buddy Raffi said it was like Blue Velvet meeting the Outsiders... that's pretty spot on. But Crispin Glover - sheesh. He really over does it with all his kooky mugging.
Oh yeah, and watch for when Keanu knocks that annoying kid off his bike.
Fakest looking fall EVER.
