Review of Rise of the Footsoldier (2007) by Riana H — 22 Feb 2010
This partly true story of gangland London and Essex in the 80s and 90s does provide some interest but it's poorly made with awful film-making methods and techniques used throughout, directing by numbers.
Some of the casual violence and torture scenes here are as horrific as it gets, shocking stuff which may appeal to the more maladjusted minds about. The fact that pretty every known east-end hard-man actor makes an appearance here amused me, Danny Dyer must have been gutted not to get the nod.
