Review of Rise: Blood Hunter (2007) by Az D — 18 Oct 2007

The movie is not bad but I feel it was drawn out more than it should have been. The plot was good but it lacked charismatic characters that make a vampire movie memorable. The villains I felt were weak and not manacing at all and Lucy Liu was'nt as good as she could have.

The only noteworthy performances came from Michael Chiklis and Carla Gugino. I've always had a problem with vampire movies whose night creatures have no fangs or at least some type of supernatural attribute other than being immortal.

I give it 3 stars because for some strange reason I actually liked it at some level but I cannot recommend it due to all the mentioned above. You'd have to make the decision yourself on this one.
