Review of Rise: Blood Hunter (2007) by Barbara C — 29 Oct 2010
Rise: Blood Hunter is an ambitious, but poor take on the vampire genre. It falls short on nearly every level, most obvious is a great cast wasted on a poor script with mediocre directing and worse editing.
The run it got on cable feels as though its missing the first fifteen minutes to half an hour. When things finally start happening, we still neither know or care about the character and then a mystical voodoo man tells the main character to go get her revenge.
Throughout the rest of the movie what little plot exists is explained in poorly managed drivel, er...exposition, disguised as exposition, er...dialogue, between characters I still don't get. All in all a mess from start to finish.
Not horrible, but still badly done.
