Review of Rise: Blood Hunter (2007) by Teemu K — 30 Oct 2009

A strange vampire movie. Lucy Liu is not happy at being vampired up and wants to kill vampires. Somehow she just don't look hard enough with a little crossbow "pinging" the bloodsuckers. THe film attempts to address the duality of a situation where she finds herself killing innocent people to keep herself going, however, this merely detracted from the flow of the movie of her gaining her revenge. What this film needed was a lot more enthuiastic killing, it hinted at it and had plenty of blood which was nice.

Michael Chiklis I feel was wasted, his performance as a man who had lost his daughter was adequate but a man of his calibre could have easy slain 20-30 vampires before running into trouble.

Could use a very gory sequel.
