Review of Rio 2 (2014) by Johnny R — 04 Aug 2014
Mostly, Rio 2 consists of unfunny slow motion (turtles high fiving), uneasy animated violence (birds being hit by cars), and giant wastes of talent (Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Bruno Mars, and Andy Garcìa). As it goes about stupidly satirizing travel movie cliches (why can't you just watch National Lampoon's Vacation, it's not animated and better), the movie also provides nothing you want.
Rio 2 delivers nothing that you'd expect from the first one, which was colorful and fun, and dedicating this Don Rhymer (the director of the first Rio who died of cancer during Thanksgiving 2012) is basically saying that he was a bad director, which he wasn't, and it endlessly just bores you out. Fans of the first one won't be amused, and all the stupidity will just leave you wondering "how did this movie get made?".
