Rings may offer passionate fans of the original a few flashes of pretty scenery and some wrinkles to the familiar narrative, but neither are enough to make up for the lack of scares or chemistry between its attractive leads, adding up to a muddled sequel that subverts the previous films' mythos without adding anything compelling in its place.
