Review of Ride with the Devil (1999) by Robert S — 09 Nov 2008
Not the best movie I've seen recently, but a lot better than most.
Parts were a little cheesy and unbelievable, but some of the casting was pure genius. Jonathan Rhys Meyers, as always a most despicable villain.
And even cooler, Jeffrey Wright as the ex-slave. That guy is awesome in EVERY role I've seen him in, from a gay nurse in New York in the 1980s, to a soft-spoken single father, to a CIA agent working with James Bond to bring down the bad guy. He is just an incredible actor and an incredible personality to watch.
And this movie has the most bad-ass line Tobey Maguire has ever had the opportunity to say!
"And when did you plan on doing this mean thing to me, Pitt Mackeson? Is now a good time?".
That scene was so freaking awesome...
And Jewel was an OK actress, considering.
