I don't know what Ang Lee saw in this that he wanted to portray. Nothing is very interesting in this movie, and everyone is miscast. I usually like Tobey Maguire but he wasn't right for this. Jewel was in herself adequate in a minimal role, but the whole time I was thinking "that's Jewel acting.

" This is probably one of the most passive war movies I've seen. Also, there was a LOT that could have been edited out, and I don't usually say that.
