Review of Ricochet (1991) by Cesar T — 04 Mar 2010
The lead role on paper is another stereotypical cop turn lawyer who takes pride in his job but Washington brings charisma and creates a loveable charachter you are immediatly drawn to. He is surrounded by cliched charachters and a cliched story which is more layered than you most other action films with some great charachter development but there is some dead time in the film where the narrative is not pushed on and it seems to be just in their for further charachter development to re enforce an already established set of charecteristics.
The dialogue is both cheesy but fits in well with the type of Directing executed in the film giving a enjoyable yet hard hitting action film. Although Russell Mulcahy does a good job setting the tone of the film some of his shots are sloppy and most action sequences are poorly excecuted and the editing is sometimes too fast for you to fully digest what is going on.
Overall its an enjoyable genre film which has a few good twists and has a strong ending.
