Review of Ricochet (1991) by Scott T — 07 Dec 2009
Entertaining movie that I don't remember being out back in the day at all. Story is a bit like Gerard Butler's new movie, Law Abiding Citizen but dafter. John Lithgow is quality as the stereotypical sneering bad guy who has some cracking one liners.
Denzel Washington shows the charisma and star power promise that he has fulfilled now. Despite him stripping off for no apparent reason to apprehend Lithgow at the beginnig to set the movie up and the film getting progressively more ridiculous as it goes on (Washington suddenly turns into an Eddie Murphy lookalike about halfway through) and the inexplicable gore at times, I thought it was a decent blast from the past.
Action movies aren't made like this anymore. Daft but enjoyable.
