Review of Rhinestone (1984) by Michael O — 09 Jul 2010
I'll admit it, I am a Stallone apologist. I will like him in stuff more than I will dislike him when all and sundry are probably more inclined to automatically hate him. But this, this was just inexcusable! The whole premise based on Dolly Parton's character training Rocky to sing country and western is just strange.
Parton actually has a great screen presence which is incredibly under used here, instead, Stallone is given an opportunity to almost kill his career (I'm sure it would have if he didnt have the Rambo and Rocky franchises to keep him afloat).
Features some of the most uncomfortable scenes you would care to witness.
