Review of A Song Is Born (1948) by Marianna W — 13 Mar 2008
Danny Kaye is to comedy what Paul Muni is to drama -- cloying, safe, unwatchable. This film is regularly derailed in order to allow him to ham it up in completely unnecessary and uninspired gag sequences.
Moronic. Hawks' earlier version of this story, "Ball of Fire," is one of his best films. This is one of his very worst.
