Review of Rhapsody in August (1991) by Praveen D — 19 Jul 2008
Seen through the eyes of teenagers who have learned about August 9, 1945, and their grandmother who lived it.
Raises a lot of very interesting questions which are not all answered, perhaps intentionally. Presents many points of view.
I'd have to watch a lot of Kurosawa to be able to compare this to his other work. Off the cuff, it has its moments but may not be among his best work.
Highly recommended, anyways, as almost everything by Kurosawa invariably is.
