Review of Rhapsody in August (1991) by Patrick B — 12 Sep 2010

Because of this movie, I am now very interested in seeing more of Akira Kurosawa's films. This was far better than I even expected it to be. I do tend to have a fondness for Asian films & this one definitely captured me.

I thought it had a slow moving yet powerful story & the elderly grandmother in the film was just perfect. I had no idea Richard Gere played a part in this movie, but it was definitely a treat seeing him in it.

I thought he brought something extra to the film - a sort of peace and calm that he always seems to carry with him. I just thought this was a beautiful film with a powerful story & great acting. Very well filmed, also.

I mean, even the title of the movie is captivating.
