Review of Restoration (1995) by Dawn B — 06 Feb 2010
With anyone else in the lead role this would be just another decent Cozdram, but with RDJ, of whom I am a huge fan, it becomes something special. The tale of a debauched doctor done good in days of great debauchery is very charming indeed.
It's a rather odd plot point that sets RDJ's character out on his arc but we immerse ourselves in the overall camp of the piece and enjoy. Support cast do an admirable job, especially amusing is Sir Hugh of Grant, prod.
design is lavish, but it's RDJ that makes the whole thing special. Have I said that already?
