Review of Resolution (2013) by Doug Y — 15 Feb 2013

This is by and large the best film I've seen in over a year. In the wrong hands the concept could've been totally botched; it's got a wild and ambitious premise that I won't go too far into explaining because that'd ruin half the fun.

Suffice it to say Benson/Scott handled it smoothly with stellar editing, acting, and pacing. No scene stretches on too long and no parts of the story feel needlessly tangential. Every part has a purpose and does both character development and drives the story forward, and while of these elements sound fairly trivial, they're all things that, when done right, barely go noticed to the average viewer but make all the difference.

Turn off the lights, turn off your distractions, and dive into this film. It's a fun ride I haven't been taken on in a long time.
