A very good Herzog film, but far from his best. This story of Dieter Dengler was more interesting and frightening when told trough Herzog's documentary 'Little Dieter Needs To Fly". I agree with some when they say this film may not do the actual events justice, but it still works on some level and character of Dieter is reenacted well by Christian Bale.
Although, the real star of the film in my opinion was Steve Zahn, who does an extraordinary job. This is an interesting story that is worth the time to watch, but if you want more emotion, I recommend the documentary.
