Review of Rescue Dawn (2007) by Monica L — 31 May 2010
A slightly fictionalized version of Herzog's earlier documentary, "Little Dieter Dengler Needs to Fly." Both are very well done. Rescue Dawn is a very interesting look into the prisoners in Vietnam/Laos and their treatment over there.
Christian Bale and the other actors do good jobs. However, there is not much we have not seen in other Vietnam war films, such as "The Deer Hunter" and Platoon" just to name a few. However, the film is very well crafted and shot in an interesting documentary type style that is worth watching.
