Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Chelsea M — 11 Aug 2013
This is a hard one to rate... it's well done, interesting filming... but it's a hard one to swallow. And I usually enjoy "depressing" real life type movies. It's quite the down spiral, and you watch all the characters lives spin out of control, going form bad to worse, to unimaginable.
I feel like the concept is great, and yet it doesn't blow me away at all... I've tried watching this one a couple times, but something rubs me the wrong way about it. I find something about the filming and pace frustrating and irritating, rather than just awesomely depressing.
I try to like it, but it unfortunately just misses the mark for it's genre.
