Review of Repulsion (1965) by Mark F — 03 Nov 2007
A highly disturbing psychological study of a woman's descent into psychosis. Repulsion is filmed in in a very atmospheric way that highlights the alienation the woman Catherine Deneuve feels, the impact made even more pronounced by it being filmed in black and white.
Together with views from her distorted perspective, Roman Polanski successfully produces a work that is arguably one of the most chilling and harrowing films ever made.
