Review of Repo Men (2010) by Gavran R — 07 Oct 2011
If you can't keep up payments on your car it's repossessed, if you can't keep up with your mortgage payments the bank takes your home but in the future if you can't keep up with payments for your organ transplant then that's where Jude Law steps in. Law works for a company called The Union which specialises in organ transplant with a costly repayment plan & if you fail to keep up repayments The Repo Men are sent in to reclaim the organs. Jude Law & Forrest Whittaker are ruthless in their job getting the job done without thought of their victims & their families. That is until a freak accident while out doing a job Jude Law requires a heart transplant & soon starts to see the side of the very people he was chasing. He himself falls behind with payments & is soon on the run.
For me the film was far too long & if you're a squeamish person there a few moments which are pretty gory. I was also hoping there was some kind of evil plot involving The Union & why they went about reclaiming so many organs. Fortunately there is a pretty good twist right at the end of the movie but it didn't quite save the film & I still felt the movie was a bit of a waste of time & it could have had so much more going for it if it had taken a different path. The reason behind Law's own transplant was pretty lame too as was this movie.
