Review of Repo Men (2010) by Jak-Luke S — 23 Jul 2017
UNRATED CUT.
Repo Men begins with an immersive and engaging idea, it builds a world with rest production design but as it comes continues it's clear that the film is incredibly hollow and out of its depth. The performances are strong with Law incredibly surprising with a strong role, as is Whitaker. Unfortunately the film in its last act takes a turn for the worst, it decides against exploring its own mythology and turns into a predictable thriller, with a climax that had I imagine the upmost best intention but the result is a patronising mess.
