Surprisingly well executed, if a bit too slick and MTV with the colors/cuts. Witherspoon is a throwaway, but Gyllenhaal succeeds as a bookish analyst who doesn't cope with having a conscience while his assignment escalates.
Streep is icy cold, Arkin is bleh, and Sarsgaard is typically compelling. A gripping cautionary tale in overextended political power over civil liberties. All in all, not really worth watching as a film.
