Review of Rendition (2007) by Alec B — 19 Oct 2010
Its all idealism, no story. The whole time I was watching it I felt that I should be angry (because the practice of 'Extraordinary Rendition' is an obvious assault on human rights) but I wasn't because you can't care about these characters.
Plus the film doesn't give the other side a fair say, because while I disagree with them they did this to try to save the country, not to be evil. Director Gavin Hood seemed to sense that the script was lacking in multiple areas and tried to spice it up with some fast paced editing and a totally unnecessary twist based on a time lapse, but he can't save the story from being a pretentious bore.
