Review of Renaissance (2006) by Shane W — 14 Oct 2007
Gets high marks for its unique visuals. The closest I've seen to a moving comic book. The first half of the film is slow, with too many slow pans and held shots (to give us a chance to soak in the style no doubt).
The plot lurches ahead with almost random developments until we get the big picture, and then finally it gets on track to our resolution. The story is nothing you haven't seen before, which isn't necessarily bad, but it would have been nice if such a striking visual feast had a tale to match.
If you're into art, it's worth watching for that alone, otherwise it's just one of many mediocre sci-fi stories.
