Review of Redemption (2014) by Roxanne R — 25 Sep 2013
A depressing film overall but manages to entertain until its sad ending. Jason Statham (Joey Jones) is an ex-Special Forces soldier that goes AWOL and returns to London living as a homeless man with his girlfriend Isabel in the streets of London.
One evening a pair of thugs beat a group of homeless including Joey but he manages to escape, landing in the gorgeous and vacant apartment of someone. By the paintings on the wall the viewer and Joey can surmise the tenant is a gay man.
During the film Joey attends a gallery event and I must say the gallery shots in the film were very nice (naked men)! That is one art gallery event I would have loved to attend!! To make matters more interesting he attends the event with a nun (sister Cristina played by Agata Buzek) that is not wearing her habit, instead she wears a red dress and heels.
Sister Cristina tries to help Joey from alcoholism and to mend his broken life. The plot continues from there. Overall good acting and somewhat solid film. I loved the apartment Joey stayed at temporarily and the paintings were delightful.
For Statham fans you may or may not like this one, I did but again, it is a sad film.
