Review of Redemption (2014) by Rocknblues 8 — 29 Dec 2013
Hmmm... Not one of the best movies that I've ever seen.
Statham plays a British war vet that has become a homeless man who is haunted by his past. He becomes separated from his homeless female friend and he cleans himself up (staying in an apartment of man who just happens to be out of town for many months) in order to find her. He becomes a gangster for the Chinese in order to make money to give to the soup kitchen that helped feed him when he was homeless.
The messages here are pretty clear, and the action is fairly minimal. It's not really entertaining, and I never really could buy into the who plot either. It's just not done well enough to really make it worth investing in. For what it's worth, Statham does try to give a more than typical performance.
