Review of Red Riding Hood (2011) by Mark E — 23 Feb 2013
I feel that Seyfried was almost insulted, being put into this role. She is an accomplished actress and was perhaps the only character in this movie worth watching (aside from the wolf itself, that is).
Perhaps the writers were trying to go with that cliched love-triangle script that seems to be winning young women over recently, but with two main men that failed miserably at sweeping anyone off their feet with their awkward acting and serious lack of commitment to their roles, the entire thing simply fell onto its face.
Perhaps the only interesting aspect of this movie was that they tried so hard to keep you guessing who the wolf was, going out of their way to imply all of the different characters, but near the end it had come to the point where I caught on and realized that the wolf was going to be none of the implied people, but instead someone supposedly unexpected.
It might have had hopes of being a good movie, had the cast been better and the writing been more solid, but it was absolutely not worth the time I spent watching it.
