Review of Red Planet (2000) by Baurushan J — 23 Mar 2012
Although the critics complain because of it's too many plot holes, here's the thing: listen carefully to the story! I know that the characters are a little uninteresting and the plot/formula/action/chemistry doesn't flow the way you expected and lacks but at least you can try and manage folks.
The story takes place in the year 2000 when the world began to wither and die because of ecological problems so the governments thought of beginning a new civilization on Mars for the Earthlings so in the year 2025, they sent tons of algae to make Mars' atmosphere breathable and 25 years later, and finally in the year 2050, six astronauts were sent to see the progress of the planet including Bowman, Gallagher, Burchenal, Santen, Pettengill and Chantillas.
The crew struggles without communications as Bowman tries to get them back home. and even worse, their robot AMEE that was designed to serve and protect has gone haywire attacking the the astronauts as prey.
A simply thrilling futuristic science-fiction film telling us about what would happen if we didn't take care of Earth. The characters the actors played were enjoyable and I'll give them that. The ideas were pretty clever for a story like this definitely.
Red Planet gets a solid 8/10.
