Review of Red Eye (2005) by Larry G — 22 May 2010
A sleek, snappy thriller about a girl who gets kidnapped by the Scarecrow from the Batman movies...I mean Cillian Murphy. Yes, that was it. There isn't a whole lot to really analyze here; it's just one of those movies that does everything right and delivers a really entertaining and easy to get into thrill ride.
The acting is pretty top notch, the plot is interesting - maybe a little convenient, but then, I don't really consider that something to fault it for here. Basically Murphy has Rachel McAdams' father at gunpoint by way of a hidden assassin, and unless McAdams helps him assassinate a popular political leader who is staying at her hotel, her father gets the ax.
It's really quite well put together and I enjoyed watching it. Nothing profound, but a solid film all around.
