Review of Red Dawn (1984) by Prasad P — 31 Oct 2009
An interesting ultra-right wing action flick, this is very much a product of its time, when cold war paranoia was at its highest and the bridge between the politics of Washington and the Kremlin were at its peak.
As a film, it functions well as an survivalist action thriller, with a group of young men (led by Patrick Swayze) battling Russian soldiers who have taken over their town. Although not boasting of a great statement, this is enjoyable enough, with its action scenes staged and directed with aplomb and its young cast firm in their roles.
