A great murder mystery with politics and international intrique added. Bai Ling embodies truth, courage and beauty in this engrossing and facininating movie. The movie gives viewer an insight into the Peoples Repubulic of China's criminal justice system.
Prisoners are guilty until proven inocent. They are beaten for confessions. They are executed on assembly line basis. Bai Ling performance is absolutely remarkable. She was wonderful. Richard Gere is great as accused American businesman.
The supporting cast is suberb. The story involves the murder of a beautiful young woman, and trial of an American businessman accused of her death. There are many memorable scenes, and a great Perry Mason ending.
Rent this movie. You will enjoy it.
