A 4.5hr popcorn movie about the most famous battle in Chinese history from an era of Chinese history (Three Kingdoms) that has been so written about thatâ(TM)s itâ(TM)s almost indistinguishable from mythology.
John Woo directed this and he treats it as almost mythological, with the generals as super warriors / avatars for their troops and their side. Beautiful movie, sweeping in scale, and good acting all around, especially Tony Leung and Takeshi Kanashiro (both alums of Chungking Express) as Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang respectively.
