Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Richard C — 07 Dec 2012
A cracking and somewhat revolutionary drama that while not the more superior film to feature James Dean in his far-too-brief career (East of Eden of course takes that honor), nevertheless pulls off its intentions of displaying an accurate portrayal of teenage disillusionment in 1950s suburban America.
Coupled with some truly memorable sequences, like the inevitably fatal clifftop car drive, the knife fight across the city skyline and the infamous 'You're tearing me apart' scenario, Rebel Without a Cause passes itself as a fine and iconic drama that highlights director Nicholas Ray at his best.
