Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Bharat V — 27 Oct 2010
For anyone who has seen what happens to kids whose parents can't or won't set boundaries for them- you'll get this movie. Weak parents and strong-willed and energetic children can lead to disaster with the kid's issues escalating as a cry for someone to care enough to say "no" and put up with the kid's temporay push-back.
Some 50's parents, like the ones in the movie, dressed up and put up a good front to the public, but they swept problems under the carpet in hopes they'd go away. Oursiders would shake their heads and wonder how such nice and civilized people could have such an angry and unruly monster for a kid.
There are still parents like this today. just ask the teachers who deal with their off spring in the classrooms.
