Review of Ratcatcher (1999) by Chris W — 03 Oct 2009
The whole time I was watching this, I kept thinking of Mouchette. And really, there was nothing that ever convinced me that this wasn't influenced by that. Ratcatcher is a great, great film that would make for a really hard re-watch.
Like in Mouchette, not much of the content is seen, but only implied. Still, when things like that happen to young people, I feel sad. I liked this a little better than Mouchette mostly because of superior cinematography and a little more sense of humanism.
The scene where James smiles at the end was unbelievably touching.
