Review of Rashomon (1950) by Jenni F — 21 May 2010
I only wish the audience I was watching with was different...They kept laughing at completely inappropriate moments (such as when the wife is in anguish over being used by 2 men). I loved it, nonetheless.
It's a profound reflection on truth, perception, and the nature of man. The storytelling device of using 4 different perspectives (in flashback) to tell one story has been done and done by now, but I'm sure it was quite groundbreaking then, and it's really the only way this story could have been told.
