Review of Rashomon (1950) by Jeff B — 23 Sep 2010
Not one of the better Kurosawa films, in my own opinion. The "this is how it happened" movies just sincerely are unappealing. However, it is very plainly seen how Kurosawa gave it his own stroke of magic. There were still some good moments to be remembered from this. The performances were good, other than the woman who played the questionably innocent maiden, she chewed the scenery more than once. However, her dub scene was very well pulled off in its surrealistic value.
Not nearly as good as his other films, but still not a miss by any means.
