A man has to make a woman his by his sword.

Rashomon is the tale of a rape of a young lady told from the four differing perspectives of the four individuals present during said event.

Rashomon is one of Kurosawa's films that shows his virtuosity runs as easy as the rain in so many of his films. Despite being made in 1950, Rashomon is still as powerful in its emotions now as i'm sure it was in its day. Some shots will become glued in your mind. It's terrifically varied in its pace and temper, and its all over in the blink of an eye.

Apparently Rashomon one of the first films to film the sun head-on, and the first to withhold the truth until the end. Whatever, all I know is its fun as hell to watch.

This review of Rashomon (1950) was written by on 04 Dec 2010.
