Review of Rashomon (1950) by Michael M — 16 Jan 2011
Crazy innovative landmark flick... terrific non-traditional bollero score, fascinating post-war symbolism, the first ever shot of the sun through the trees (suck it "Owl Creek," eat it Malick)... and a full exploration of the unreliable narrator.
What "Ten Little Indians" did for mystery/horror this movie did for non-linear storytelling. Inspiring, intimidating, one of the best edited movies ever made.
