Review of Lupin the 3rd (2014) by Jh K — 21 Jun 2015
The Good:
The movie gets plenty of the manga/anime's signatures just right, it feels like truly seeing the characters jump out from the pages of the manga and/or its animated version. Superb casting that picks the most suited actors for each characters. Amazing action, and hillarious comedy moments (especially by Goemon), and enough spy-stuffs to make audience craves to see more. Unpredictable plot, that also harkens back to common vibe of a true Lupin III twist.
The Not-so-Good:
The secondary characters such as Goemon, Fujiko, Zenigata, and even Jigen many times overshadowed Lupin himself as the titular character. Some of the slow talk moments tend to drag the movie. The english dialogue performed by the characters might be grating to hear for some. There are times when the camera works tend to feel distracting and hectic rather than pleasant to see.
